Life Insurance & Estate Planning Update
It’s estimated that only 51% of Americans age fifty-five to sixty-four have completed their estate plan. That number increases to 64% for people between forty-five and fifty-four years of age. This “ostrich” approach to estate planning will have a very real effect on the family members these clients leave behind. This is particularly true for those with estates that may be subject to state or federal estate taxes. Fortunately for those working with a financial professional, there is an individual who can give them a “push” to complete this incredibly important step in their financial plan. This course will include a federal and Minnesota state estate tax primer and 2016 update. The course will show how life insurance plays an integral part in planning for illiquid estates and how to shield a life insurance policy from estate taxes. The course concludes with some issue-spotting tips that will help you to determine when there is an estate planning issue for your client, and will show you how to use estate planning to meet new prospects and strengthen your existing client relationships.
