  • Insurance Day on the Hill is March 21
  • Contribute to IFAPAC – Your career insurance

Greetings from your NAIFA State Board.

At our recent January meeting, the NAIFA MN Board dedicated a substantial amount of time to the QME. QME stands for Quality Member Experience. As you may recall, National had a task force that was working on changing the federation structure, establishing standards we are accountable for and moving to one consistent dues structure. The vote on QME was to have taken place last September….but Hurricane Irma caused our national convention to be cancelled. The official national vote will now take place in May in Washington DC.

Meanwhile, our state has established our own task force with representation from Southern, Rochester, Duluth, Central, Glacial Ridge, North Metro and the Twin Cities. The first meeting was held on January 19. The purpose of the group is to bring back a proposed Governance structure that is more accommodating to NAIFA members and outlines a stronger membership value.

On another note, we hope to see you at the remaining two Roadshows. One will be on Feb. 13th in Rochester. The other will be held in Mankato on March 16. Attendees will have an opportunity to comment on the proposed QME changes.

Our State has other exciting things happening as well. We have been collaborating with several other organizations on upcoming programs.

The first is the 2018 Summit for Insurance and Financial Advisors. Registration is now open, and we have gotten a great response so far. This inspiring program features presentations on business advocacy, practice management and product knowledge. This event is a partnership between MAHU, FSP, NAIFA MN and MN FIC. We are excited for the evolution of this program which replaces our State Convention and Day with MDRT. The date for the 2018 Summit is April 20th. So please save that date and plan to attend.

The other event is our annual Insurance Day on the Hill which will be held on March 21. The event is free, but space is limited. NAIFA partners with other organizations to put on this event each year. Matt Birk, former Minnesota Viking, Super Bowl Champion and NFL executive will be the keynote speaker. CE credit will be available in the morning session, and registration will launch on February 7.

We would also like to encourage you to donate to IFAPAC. It's your career insurance. By donating to IFAPAC, you help us connect with legislators both at the state and federal level. This protects our products and our ability to serve our clients. 2018 is an important election year, and we need to be visible. Your participation really does make a difference.

Thank you so much for being a NAIFA member. We are so much stronger together.
