NAIFA MN 2018 Annual Meeting

March 2018 Connections video with Drew DeWitt

Watch the video now.

Hello and welcome to the March 2018 NAIFA Video Connections. My name is Drew DeWitt and I’m your incoming President for NAIFA Minnesota. I’m filling in for Jolene this month. There has been a lot going on in NAIFA with some exciting changes on the horizon!

At the January and February Meetings, the NAIFA MN Board dedicated a substantial amount of time to QME, the Quality Member Experience. QME is NAIFA National’s campaign to restructure the whole of NAIFA into a “One NAIFA” structure. If the vote is affirmed at the Congressional Fly-in in May, the legal structure of NAIFA MN will change. But the involvement in your Local geographic area can stay relatively the same. We put together a task force that has met every 2 weeks to really answer the question, “How is NAIFA MN going to deliver value to you the member all across the State?” We have representation from Southern, Rochester, Duluth, Central, Glacial Ridge, North Metro and Twin Cities. The purpose of the group is to bring back a proposed Governance Structure that is more accommodating to NAIFA members and outline a stronger membership value.

As of right now, our rough draft is to divide the State into thirds. A Northern, Central and Southern Region with a commitment of 2 events in each region per year. The big push will be to create electronic access for meetings for all so we can see the presenters that are happening all around the State and we can still obtain CE credits. There is a detailed timeline we are following leading up to the QME vote that allows for member feedback at in-person events, conference calls and electronically. Please find that and we welcome your feedback.

As I mentioned before. The NAIFA Congressional Conference is May 22 and 23 where the QME vote will take place. This will be an exciting meeting in Washington DC. Registration available through NAIFA’s website.

NAIFA MN has been collaborating with several other organizations on upcoming programs. March 21 will be the Insurance Day on the Hill in St Paul. This event is free, but space is limited. NAIFA partners with other organizations to put this event on each year. Matt Birk, former Minnesota Viking, Super Bowl Champion and NFL Executive will be the keynote speaker. There will be sessions in the morning available for CE credit. Registration is currently available.

And finally… registration for the 2018 Summit for Insurance and Financial Advisors is open and we have received great response so far. This inspiring program features presentations on business advocacy, practice management and product. The event is a partnership between MAHU, FSP, NAIFA MN and MN-FIC. We are excited for the evolution of this program which replaces our state convention and Day with MDRT event. So sign up for that and come sit elbow to elbow with other advisors that may have a slightly different discipline than yours. The 2018 Summit will occur on Friday, April 20th.

Thank you time and your continued membership to NAIFA. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Make it a great day!
