Insurance Coverage: From a Law Perspective

In reality, we often look at policy provisions and risk in retrospect. We look at the policy, apply exclusions, and tell the insured that they could have purchased different coverage if the risk that actually occurred was one they wanted to protect against. Most litigation concerns provisions no one really considered until after the fact.

Perhaps the most important thing to understand from a client is what risks they actually need to manage. It is not reasonable to believe anyone can be covered for every single possibility that could arise – there will be outliers. This portion will focus on identifying the risks that can be anticipated and how best to cover those risks. Lastly, we will have a discussion on how utilizing the right life insurance policy along with a business succession plan will provide great value to clients and can be used to effectuate planned buyouts.
