A common theme throughout the discussion will include the benefits of trusts for minor children and how to link assets to an estate plan through properly worded beneficiary designations and ownership of assets in a way that avoids common estate planning mistakes and omissions.

Planning for Long Term Care

Advanced planning for long term care has become increasingly important for families. This course will include a review of state and federal Medicaid laws, including rights the community spouse has to retain assets. Current asset allowances and income allocations will be discussed along with options to enable the community spouse to maintain a good standard of living and avoid economic hardship.
